Sika Camp
As sika afficionados, take it from us: you won’t find a better value than our friends at Glacial Valley Outfitters. We’ve paid our dues on public land in Delmarva, taking over a dozen sika over the years. Now that a certain Netflix program turned our favorite spot into a parking lot, we’ll gladly save our money for the promised land of Glenmalure, Ireland!
The Irish sika are just as wild, free-ranging, and tasty as our ones in the States. In fact, they are from the same bloodline that was introduced to Maryland. The difference is they aren’t pressured into being near-exclusive creatures of the night. And because they aren’t shot as soon as they have 6” antlers, some stags will grow monster racks that you CANNOT find in Delmarva. If you want them any bigger, you’ll need to pay big money on exclusive estates - not our business model - or hunt the Manchurian variety. Best of all, you won’t have to deal with other public land hunters. In addition to Sika, you can hunt Red Stags, hybrid Red/Sika Stags, Feral Goats (Irish Ibex), and Fallow Deer. All of this on what is hands down our favorite scenery in the world, surpassing Lofoten and Denali National Park in many regards.
Now, this Camp is a bit different than our others. Jim and the Glacial Valley team are an established operation with decades of experience, a large following, and the endorsement of Craig Boddington. They are as honest and trustworthy as you’ll find in the industry, personally owning or ranching most of the land they hunt. We would not be able to put together a fairer package ourselves, so we basically offer an add-on package to make it an all-inclusive camp: travel to/from Glenmalure, drinks, lunches, middle-of-day touring, an additional day of sightseeing, and childcare if needed. As always, you’re welcome to book directly with Jim at Glacial Valley Hunting!
Icelandair offers one of the cheapest flights to Dublin, so consider adding a stop-over stay in Iceland to go hunting for the Northern Lights. The island itself wasn’t our personal cup of tea, but this is a great way to cross it off your bucket list.
